It hurts when Catra bites. Adora's had worse, far, far worse, even from Catra herself, but her fangs sting like the world's worst papercut, and that's without any of the emotions bubbling to the surface. The stolen glances at Catra's lips that she'd convinced herself was just idle curiosity, even when nobody else ever drew her attention like that--none of it prepares her for the reality. That Catra would make her bleed here, too.
"No," she says, but she doesn't mean stop. "You don't get to push me around, Catra. Not anymore."
Not like she did back in the Horde. Not like she did the other times they fought; when Adora let Catra get away with hurting her. Hurting her friends. When Catra opened that portal--she closed off something else in Adora's heart. She's done waiting around for her to change. This, all of this, only goes to show that Adora was right.
She wrestles control of her arms back, ignoring the nasty gashes left behind by Catra's claws. The crates are still nearby, and she shoves Catra towards the closest one; looming over her with an outraged expression that Adora hopes hides the fact that she just wants to cry. (Later, she will, but only after telling Bow and Glimmer everything she's learned.
Almost everything.)
"Is this what you've always wanted?" To hate her. To hurt her. I didn't want you to come back, Adora. "Well, congratulations. I hope it feels good."
As for Adora? She only wishes things could be different.
